% find Mail Maildir -type f -print | wc -l
98977

Not quite a million, but close to a tenth of that.[1]

-john

[1] Any files with a newline in their name would could as two. I do not
think that I have any files with a newline in their name, but it is
possible.

% find Mail Maildir -type f -name \*'
'\* -exec echo '{}' \| wc -l \;

returned nothing. I can safely say that I have no files counted more
than once, even if the -exec did not do what I expected it to.
