What is it that's missing in the UI programming that keeps me from
grabbing stuff in some parts of the UI.
For example, in Thunderbird, I can grab the subject text from the
dividing bar between message-list pane and message-content pane,
..but..
I cannot grab anything inside the message-list pane.
*VERY* unusual
Similar gripes about (some) popup dialogs. Some error messages cannot be
mouse-captured <arggh, double-sigh>.
It's becoz they are not in GUI widgets known as TextFields (either
Single Line Edits or Multi-Line-Edits). It's the same reason you can't
grab Menu text, Check/Radio button labels etc. Though a GUI developer
COULD make their dialog's use text widgets so it could be copied and
pasted.
I personally prefer the Resource Database approach. I use to put all my
error messages into a ".Xresources" file. Then, if you didn't like the
error message (God - the number of times I used to get ppl telling me to
change the error messages) you could change the file so it said what you
think it should say !
