Mostly it's SCM although some just use CM. Not to be confused w/ Supply
Chain Management.
NB: The field now covers other stuff, like defect/issue management
(because that's so often linked into source control).
Generally in the business worlds I've come from a CM is Customer
Management or Configuration Management. In the company I just came from
most everyone assumed that when someone said "CM", they meant Customer
Management. Almost no one knew what an ERP system was (including the
CEO). Few knew what SCM was (outside of the software engineers, but few
of them had ever used anything other than RCS or CVS).
