/usr/share/doc/kernel-doc-2.6.23/Documentation (on my machine)
 has a file kernel-parameters.txt
in that dir; it indicates that biosirq applies only for X86_32

I don't know about the other boot parms you mentioned having set.

Some have reported BCM working ok. I can't say that I've ever gotten to
the point of declaring success, although Eric's machine looked like it
was working -- for a while. Then the ping times got worse; sounds
suspiciously like a bug.

Maybe it's worsened by x86_64? <sigh>

Investment in learning ndiswrapper might look good on your installfest
resume. :-)
