so
what if it's your battery powered portable TV that's going to be a piece
of junk after February 2009, and who cares if your fair use copy rights
are going bye-bye ?

When the cable companies phase out analogue altogether (2011 ?), the
MPAA will control the vertical, and the MPAA will control the horizontal.

Everything you say is true.

Not so much a "conspiracy theory" (why do people consider that a
perjorative?) as a money/power grab.

HUH???

Im all for a good conspiracy story but give me a break

there is no motivation or for switching by any attempt to stop time-shift or recording, and more so the oposite many companies in the video world are NOT for this switch, its about time the FCC grew a brain and a set, and took what they need, there only auctioning off those areas they are not using thereselves. TV is a horrible bandwidth waste whos time is way over... and then your not talking about unusable your setup uses an antenna instead of a cable from the cable company then your one of the many who needs to get a coupon from the Gov. and buy an adapter, a single channel adapter is all of $50 while the multi channel adapters are not that much more. and as the dealine gets closer you can expect the price to drop a little, or buy new better PVR cards which have these built in check out hauppauge for a good selection, or others if your so inclined to switch brands if your using cable tv then this isnt even a bother, cable tv's are NOT effected by any analog to digital conversion by GOV forces, YET!! but the excuse or need isnt there yet cable services dont interfeer with radio broadcasts.

and this doesnt even touch on the fact that if your really recording over the air broadcasts in any area near the san diego county line your just doing it wrong....
