I, personally, would use Xen just so I could learn it better.  But if
you're not doing Windows at all, UML is supposed to be pretty fast.

For a host system, Red Hat probably makes virtualization easy.  But if
you don't plan on using the host system other than to host, i.e. if
all your tasks will be performed inside virtualized systems, then you
could try Gentoo and build something spare and solid.  There's useful
