You can also make FLACs, you can burn them as an audio cd or Amarok will
play them also. The only reason I use both FLAC and MP3 is that my Zen
won't recognize FLAC.

I rip as FLAC also because it is lossless (like
.WAV's), smaller than .WAV's and if you store
FLAC's you can get to .mp3, .ogg, .wav in no
time flat.
