Hmmm, I get a "this video requires Adobe Flash Player underneath a gray embedded-window. Oh waitaminute, I changed some advanced javascript options, and now I get a black box, but right clicking only says "open with totem" .. which is not productive. :-) Pardon me TW (and onlookers) if my questions are not properly posed -- I am still a debian-n00bie. Did you install flash from a repository (nonfree?, what?) or from adobe tarball or what?. I get: dpkg -s flashplugin-nonfree ... Architecture: i386 Version: 9.0.48.0.2+really0ubuntu12 ... What do you see? Can you think of other things I should do? OK waitsomemore. On another system (Linux Mint box#1), I get a mplayerplugin window, and it reports a sequence like buffering, playing, stopped. Not working but different symptom! It's a Linux Mint box#2 that prompted my original question. Now, what did I do different? Arggh? I seriously dislike this stuff. If I weren't dedicated to nonviolence, I would be tempted to use the 0x47ate word. [EMAIL PROTECTED]@! The mplayer plugin does allow 'save as'. I try that, and then run from the command line as mplayer -vo <?> postad.flv where the -vo <?> can be omitted altogether, or where <?> can be gl, x11 or xv, and I get output containing ...libavformat file format detected. [swf @ 0x87940a8]Compressed SWF format not supported LAVF_header: av_open_input_stream() failed Alright I go looking for libavformat stuff, and I find it on my F7, but that's x86_64 for which there doesn't seem to be a usable flash version. :-( No libavformat on my ubu/mint boxen -- what about yours, Todd? Any answer to: dpkg -S libavformat* Now, I'm remembering something about ffmpeg, gstreamer .. and now this is giving me an even bigger headache. I think I'll go have a beer.
