I've tried the standalone (and debugging version, as well) flashplayer.
And they work. (Even on F7 x86_64).

Went back and plugged the url into the browser bar (instead of clicking
on the link) -- and that WORKED!

Rechecked:
- clicking on link brings up embedded mplayer window that goes through a
buffering, playing, connecting, stopped sequence without playing anything.

- right click on copy url (save as is _not_ useful), and paste url into
browser address bar -- works!

So the existing plugin is ok, but something's wrong with the javascript
or the mplayer configuration, or the browser mime handling, or .. hmmm,
maybe I'll have another beer.

Regards,
..jim (how do I debug this -- a site problem, maybe?)
