/dev/srn has been the device name for SCSI CDROM drives from back before there even were IDE CDROM drives (let alone DVD). Now that the IDE/SCSI systems have been unified, the /dev/srn names are back for everything. But, you should have a /dev/cdrom or some similar variant as well that udev creates as a symlink to the proper device.
