Physical meetings can be difficult to attend for a lot of people for many reasons. How about the idea of an online KPLUG meeting? Using VOIP to conf bridge, and something like webex for showing the presentation? Not sure on all the details to implement, but it could be an option to reach a greater amount of members. This would eliminate the sponsors, physical location plus it could all be recorded for members that couldn't attend online.
We have constant activity on #kernel-panic on IRC for those who want online meetings. Webex is proprietary and doesn't even work on Linux as far as I know. Screencasts recorded in ogg theora are the way to go for presentations. VOIP is a pain for a lot of people to set up. I don't want to eliminate the physical location as it is one of the best parts of KPLUG. And I usually enjoy the after-meeting meeting at Denny's more than I enjoy the actual meeting.
