The x86 model is, in fact, the *worst* architecture for any job let alone virtualization.

The Alpha architecture was *excellent* for this. Alas, virtualization didn't hit mainstream before the architecture died.

The POWER architecture is probably the best remaining architecture for this kind of thing.
