I whole heartedly agree. I've never really liked the x86.
The Alpha architecture was *excellent* for this. Alas, virtualization
didn't hit mainstream before the architecture died.
I miss my days at DIGITAL. :(
I still have my Alpha, but it's so much slower than today's POS x86
systems. :(
The POWER architecture is probably the best remaining architecture for
this kind of thing.
