it was a great place to get deals on hardware and software. You could
tell what the hot items were because you'd see those products all over 
the show and each vendor was priced to compete with the others. From
what I heard, alot of the small PC vendors in the LA to Riverside areas
got together and purchased a particular product in bulk from over 
seas and at great discount. So you might normally have seen large 17"
monitors in the $500 range at previous shows and at any local PC vendor.
But then, a couple of dozen vendors at the Pamona show would have
Viewsonic 17's in the $300 range. The next show that deal was gone and
it was 386/40 mobo's or Fahrenheit video cards. It was a blast but
very expensive.

Oh, and with the popularity of the CDROM and cheap readers, the
porn section ballooned and eventually was segmented off behind a
curtain. But so grew the open source market with Hobbes and Linux
CDs at good prices. Because downloading so much over 2400baud
was still a pain, often failed, and time consuming.
