I've been pretty good about doing backups but now I'm thinking I need to

Considering the threat of wildfires as well as the usual kinds I think
it would be a prudent action. Anyone have recommendations for these
things? I need to store two 3.5 inch hard drives and about 20 DVD's plus
a small amount of paper.
I don't trust "fireproof" safes. If your house catches fire and burns to
the ground (as likely happens during a wildfire scenario, where the
firefighters don't bother after the house is on fire) these small safes
and any everything in them will cook. Papers might not catch fire for
lack of oxygen but plastic will melt and electronics will be history.
Most commercial safes have a UL 4-hour rating (8 inches of concrete,
same as outside walls of commercial buildings). But if there is no fire
fighting going on, 4 hours isn't enough.
In the fire after the SF earthquake, bank vaults were too hot to enter
without the contents spontaneously catching fire for days after the
surroundings had cooled off.
And to completely not answer your question, how about a box of stuff at
work or a friend's house.
