MS to legitimize functional programming?

Unfortunately I am hesitant to touch even their good ideas with a 10 
foot pole because I know anything they create will be twisted to screw 
me out of money and lock me into their system. Fortunately there are 
plenty of other excellent functional programming platforms out there and 
this can legitimize their use:
