This is why we get a salary. Sometimes, I've been able to push myself and grind out large quantities of code. This is getting harder the older I get. It's true that management often doesn't understand how work happens. There's a reason that Scott Adams can make so many books. But, often I've found that they do understand how things work. There are productive programmers and there are unproductive programmers. It doesn't take all that long to figure out which ones are which.
