I've solved many problems while either sleeping, or driving somewhere. Leo Brodie's Thinking Forth has a great comic about an engineer "I'm not just sleeping. I'm using my neocortex." BTW, the entire book is available at <http://thinking-forth.sourceforge.net/>. Despite being a bit dated, I still think it is the best book on software engineering ever written.
