 Thanks, I had stumble upon
http://www.hackinglinuxexposed.com/articles/20030309.html right after
I sent that. All my searches had been for using putty and sshing into
a linux server. From what I can gather in the few minutes I've been
playing around is I'll need a local and remote forward each linux
machine to accept connections from the desktop machines.
