I installed FireFox and now I am looking for a way to launch FireFox. No
Icon showed up on the Desktop after installation. I can launch FireFox
if I click on a link in an email so it looks like it installed
correctly.

-------------------------------------
This is how I installed FireFox:

Extract the tarball and run the installer like so:

tar -xzvf firefox-1.0.installer.tar.gz
cd firefox-installer
./firefox-installer
-------------------------------------

I looked in the "firefox-installer" directory for a "Application
Launcher" but found none

I looked for the executable (not sure I know one when I see one).

When I try to "Create Launcher" from the desktop (right click) it wants
a command under the "basic" tab. I have looked in following directory:

/home/jim/firefox/firefox-installer/

but again I am not sure what it looks like.

Any help would be appreciated.

Jim,
If Firefox is selected as your default browser, creating a launcher only requires the command "htmlview" which starts your default browser. But if your default browser is set to something different you can also use the command "firefox". Before you create the application launcher you can check these commands through the terminal and make sure that firefox installed correctly.
