Luke- Could you share where you found the required command "htmlview"
(it worked)? I would like to read about it.

When I tried the command "firefox" (in the Application Launcher") I got
the following error.

---
   "Error launching application"

There was an error launching the application.

Details: Failed to execute child process "firefox" (No such file or
directory)
---

N.B. As you suggested I tried both "htmlview" and "firefox" commands
through the terminal. "htmlview" worked and "firefox" did not.

I would like to find the MAGIC word to launch firefox i.e. firefox.exe
in Windows. I know the Linux and Unix systems use: "~/.mozilla/firefox"
to stores your user data but I do not know what command launches the
browser.

=== Below is what I did to solve the problem ... with your help ===
=== Thanks to all

Jim,
If Firefox is selected as your default browser, creating a launcher
only requires the command "htmlview" which starts your default browser.
But if your default browser is set to something different you can also
use the command "firefox". Before you create the application launcher
you can check these commands through the terminal and make sure that
firefox installed correctly.

FireFox is my default browser ... it comes up when I clicked on any
link.

I created a launcher as shown below:

"Create Launcher", Basic (tab):

Name: FireFox 1.0.1
Generic name:
Comment:
Command: htmlview
Type: - not used -
Icon: - clicked on "Icon",then clicked on "Browse" then navigated to the
directory per Bryan Dyson's email

/home/jim/firefox/firefox-installer/chrome/icons/default/default.xpm

I now have an Icon on the DeskTop and when clicked it launches FireFox.
All my Bookmarks etc were preserved.

=== To answer Gus's question(?) ===

I'm not sure why you chose to install Firefox like this. There are
prebuilt
packages available for almost all systems. If I remember correctly, you
are
running FC3. You can get the latest Firefox as an rpm package from the
updates.

I found this site with the "Downloading and Installing" instructions,
then I followed them.

http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/releases/1.0.2.html

Downloading and Installing

Linux/GTK2
Extract the tarball and run the installer like so:

tar -xzvf firefox-1.0.2.installer.tar.gz
cd firefox-installer
./firefox-installer

If you have Nautilus set up to run Executable Text Files you can just
double click firefox-installer to run.
