OK. I'll keep that in mind. The files which were in /root were related to installing MySQL and PHP and also the data imports (.tar.gz) from the other server. These added up to about 700M which is a significant percentage of 3G. The installation didn't have much of a margin and we crossed it. Thanks, Michael and Carl, for your help.
