Anybody know of a link where I can find all the obscure (and not-so-obscure) command names explained? A nice bonus would be if the explanations would be as helpful as Carl was here and tell me ~"you probably don't need this one anymore if you have thus-and-such which essentially replaces it"~.

One not-very-elegant way is to hit the tab key twice at a command line prompt. You'll see a list of commands within your PATH. Check out the man page for any commands that strike your fancy.

Well, that's not really something I can even check now, since I already deleted the item in question (which you trimmed out, necessitating that I search and find the email you responded to in order to find the name -- not complaining mind you, but irritated -- please don't over-trim). Do you happen to know if that command's man page says that it is no longer needed if you are using cups or even recommends that they not co-exist?
