Ahh, you seem to be missing an "applet" called the "Menu Bar". It's possible that something is screwed up in the panel configuration code that keeps the menu bar from showing. I think I _have_ been puzzled by something like that before and I think it may have been triggered by experimenting with a narrow screen resolution (maybe 640)? I think we can try some things and will eventually get back the way the panel is supposed to look. Is there an empty space at the top-left (or anywhere) on the top panel big enough to hold the "Applications Places System" menu bar? If so, right click on an empty part of the top panel and choose "Add to Panel". That should bring up the "Add to Panel" dialog which you can scroll down until you see an entry "Menu Bar". The way I like to do it is to click on the Menu Bar entry and drag your mouse to the target location on a panel -- ie, the top-left on the top panel. If that works just dismiss the dialog (Close or X) without clicking the "Add" button. If you do not have any space, or the above does not work, let me know, and we can try some other things. If you end up with 2 menu bars (perhaps after reboot), then you must simply click a spot just-to-the-left of the icon and choose "Remove from Panel" to get rid of one of them. Let me know how it goes. Regards, ..jim -- KPLUG-Newbie@kernel-panic.org http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-newbie
