Tcl/Tk is still a very practical tool, and the API is still a model of simplicity. And my problem is not the language; any Tcl/Tk program could be easily converted to a Tkinter program. My problem is that, on Linux, Tk still looks ancient, and the core widget set badly needs extending (I know about the gazillion 3rd party add on widgets; that's just confusing IMO). Also, fonts aren't anti-aliased in the apps I tried.
