The regular SDCS members were paying the $30/year. Despite the fact that
only a few every showed up for meetings, there was still a loyal group that
paid their $30/year.

True. And the money went into the SDCS treasury, where it paid for the
insurance, phone, mailbox, and other items to maintain the SDCS while SDMUG
tried to not even pay their $6/member.
