The problem the guy was having was that messages from the mailing list were
sometimes being flagged as spam. He wanted us to mangle the subject line so
that the spam filter at his ISP would let the messages through instead of
sequestering them.

The problem is in the spam filter at the ISP. All the guy needs to do is
filter on the To: line or the List-Id: line and look for kernel-panic and
white-list those e-mails.

I don't thing we should do any mangling when there is no problem.
