At my bike shop, I'm currently setting up a multi-seat Linux system, running vmware-server for concurrent Windows

What's the advantage of MultiSeat versus, say, 5 actual computers?

real-estate, and the fact that since all we use is FireFox/Thunderbird/IE/serial terminal app/microfiche viewer , the "power" of most computers is TERRIBLY underutilised today. That's why vmWare is so popular in our (my day job) labs !

Especially when point-of-sale is involved, those computers can be *really* cheap. Probably cheaper than any individual graphics card you mentioned.

It's not POS as you typically think of it. When a customer wants a part, we have to look up a digital "microfiche" to find the parts (Windows program) and if we don't have it in stock, use M$ IE (ONLY!) to check availability in the BMW Warehouse to order it, or place an order.
