That's really is my point exactly. Many websites try to set absolute
fontsizes, which in some cases defeats or hinders user's being able to
set their own browser preferences for comfortable viewing.

Plone defaults to a setting that is relative, rather than absolute --
__BUT__ it sets what they call fontBaseSize to 69% of whatever the
user's browser would otherwise default to. Thus, our pages use a default
size (for most text) that is 69% of what I like and 69% of what you like.

Now the result of every website setting their own absolute fontsize (or
defaulting to any relative size other than 100%) is that I have to
change the size every time I change the site. Arrgh!

The _right way_ is to use a default of 100% and never use anything
smaller (with the acknowledged exception of footers, and other "fine
print" that you don't really expect people to want to read).

Well, you can fudge a little, and make some things somewhat smaller,
such as labels, legends, etc, that are secondary to the main content.

One recommendation I have seen is never reduce to less that 85% of the
user's preference.

It's almost trivial to re-set the base size. I'm trying to get a feel
for whether a lot of people think the current size is too small. or is
it only me?
