I forget now, are we running a 32bit kernel? If so, a side question might be: was that an expediency choice? is a 64bit upgrade in the winds, whenever the issue goes away -- perhaps hw-compatiblity or?
We're running 64-bit on the main box. The fully virtualized guest that I created to hold the original Sparky's image is only 32 bit, because the original Sparky was only 32 bit. And the kernel is the very same one from the original Sparky, which probably explains why it has no HIMEM support (2.4.27 from Debian 3.1). I can't believe that didn't occur to me, thanks Gus.
Once Plone and the lists are moved to new virtual machines we'll have all the memory we want.
