Jeff Guess I can't offer all that much help but I have a couple of observations. To close up some loose fitting access holes, trim and pop rivet some baffeling material around the holes. I used the trick of making the baffeling material out of four or five layers of glas cloth and high temp silicone. You can easily make any size or shape. Are you sure the gauge is correct? Had lots of problems on my Tripacer; tried about everything until my IA flew the plane and then checked the oil temp with his hand held gauge. Found my oil temp gauge was reading 30 degrees high. My oil cooler is right up front, at a cowl inlet and in front of the cylinder. Good luck.
