Look up the battery on Embay. There are several listed there for a good
price.

Interesting information about the carb and moving it to the top. I am just
trying to think of the space at the top of the motor and it seems to me that
it's a little lean for space up there. What would you do? Put a hump in the
cowling?

My mind has been contemplating the idea of fuel injection. I have done a lot
of work in this area on my turbo charged car including adding an intercooler
and bigger injectors a manual boost controller ( homemade) and reprogramming
the ECU ( computer) to gain an additional 175 HP on what was only 175 HP 4
Cylinder 2.2 four cylinder. I now have ( depending on boost settings)
between 275 Hp and 363 HP. I believe if kept below 300HP the engine will be
very reliable. But this is a totally different engine the VW and design
constraints would never allow the same things to be done to the VW engine
and maintain reliability.

However, the knowledge I gained on this , I would think could be used to
consider the possibility to fuel injecting the VW engine and maybe turbo
charging it.

The obstacles would be how to control the fuel injectors, i.e. how to
computerize it and how to control the waste gate on the turbo ( reliably and
effectively) and of course the heat.

I would much rather inject the engine then to turbo charge it because I
believe you could gain a few HP with injection without much if any weight
penalty. However I do not think turbo charging would be able to provide the
reliable power gains over a weight penalty and heat and reliability penalty.
The most reliable turbo's require both water and oil cooling. More weight
penalties and the water you do not have with a VW motor. All that said I
would not hold this idea back if using a SUby motor or even a Corvair.

I am just really more interested in getting rid of the Model T Zenith carb
and gong to something better and not having to worry about carb ice. I have
a Posa carb and everything I have read on that one leads me to believe I
should not even consider using it.

Then again, I do not feel I know enough about the VW motor to really claim
anything.
