Rob, I have not seen the NTSB report. Vapor lock came from the FAA. If you look at the picture of the firewall prior to the crash, with oil all over it, you will see that I did not have a heat shield on the gascolator. I'm thinking that the increased airflow, after takeoff, may have moved more hot air to that area, as I hoped, on its way out of the cowl. Even with lots of taxi and static running, I never had any overheating. Apparently putting more heat in that area did the trick. Hard to believe and probably not true, but it works for me.
It was a nice day. Not particularly hot because we had had a lot of rain.
