The plans version is 1/8", or 3.175mm for you Aussie types. As you are probably aware, the plans version does not stick very far aft and it is fairly wide and it is a lot more likely to bend if you extend it. I extended mine some and used two pieces of 1/8" that I think were only like an inch and a half wide to fit in a Matco tailwheel. Mine were spring steel and were heat treated and still bent.
