My first exposure to a vertical card compass (two days ago) indicates
to me that it is just a sensitive to interference as a standard "float"
type mag compass. It's still a magnetic compass, just a different
layout. If you have any doubts, just pass a screwdriver near the
instrument and see what happens. I believe it should be more stable
then the float type mag compass and easier to interpret. I was also
told that it is important to have a good shock mount. That should not
be hard to do when mounted in the panel as I intend to do. I'm using
a 3 1/8" hole and will shock mount the plate that cuts the hole down
to the size of the compass and then shock mount the compass to the
plate. Even if mounted on top of the panel a shock mount should not
be too hard to accomplish.

Your results may vary!
