It's been kinda quiet lately so please allow me to explain something that
has affected a few of the list subscribers. About once a day I get a
message from the list "mailman" that somebody has been unsubscribed due to
"excessive bounces". This is something that the list manager (an automatic
thing that I have limited control over) does automatically when a certain
number of messages FROM KRnet or CorvAircraft are returned as
"undeliverable", or "bounced". I could actually turn that feature off, but
I'm using the default settings because I think it needs to stay that way.

Why are messages bounced? The main reason is because some of the flakier
ISPs will occasionally go down, and all messages meant for the subscriber
really ARE undeliverable. Another reason is because the guy never checks
his mail, and his mailbox is full. For those guys, the digest is the way to
go. I think it's just about impossible to get unsubscribed if you're on the
digest because you have to have at least two messages per day bounced, and
the digest only goes out once per day.

Who cares about bounced messages? Well, you guys that were on the old
mailinglist.org list will recall that AOL, Earthlink, and several of the
other common ISPs had labeled all mail from mailinglist.org as SPAM, so
nobody with AOL or the others could receive mail from either list (or at
least much of the time, depending on spam filter performance). The reason
we gained this status is the high number of bounced messages that they
received from us. Had mailinglist.org had the intelligence to cut off the
flow of messages when the bounces started, we might never have ended up in
that situation. That's why I'm going to leave it like it is.

If you were unsubscribed, you might check into why, and try to remedy it.
You are more than welcome to resubscribe, but you might consider "going
digest mode", by visiting the mylist.com site at
http://mylist.net/listinfo/krnet .

Sorry about the administrative stuff, but it's been quiet lately, and some
folks were probably thinking that I was just exercising "all this power" in
my ivory tower, when in reality it's something done automatically by the
system...
