Yep, a splice is about all you can do, unless you can gradually bend them
into shape to fit your fuselage.  Having never owned any preformed parts,
I'm clueless, but the older (before prepreg) KR2 parts are probably floppy
enough to make fit without splicing, or maybe you can get away with splicing
under the edges as Dan mentioned, to get the thing back to "regular" height,
whatever that is.  A glass/foam sandwich with two layers of glass
overlapping the deck should be sufficient.  Don't forget that you can also
heat the parts up and REform them to some degree with one of those "jet"
kerosene heaters or something similar.  Just don't burn the house down while
you're at it...
