Netters,
I'm building a fwd hinged canopy, similar to Mark L's. Once the fiberglass
frame is fabricated / Bonded onto the canopy, according to Todd Silver (Todd's
Canopy's) the canopy is supposed to get "surprisingly rigid". This thing is
like a wet noodle.
I've constructed the outer frame consisting of 7 plys of 2 inch tape, an aft
hoop, canopy sills out of 1/4 x 3" spruce, with a 5/8 spruce cap bonded
together.
With everything clamped up, the canopy is anything but rigid, and concerns me
about retaining it's shape during flight. I still have to flox the inner frame
hoop, canopy sills, and forward hoop into the inside of the canopy and
everything together, but I'm still very, very concerned about the lack of
torsional rigidity of this whole structure.
  Am I missing something somewhere?
