KRNetter,
Harold's right... I noticed when I was doing my Canopy
lay-ups that where I traced the trim lines on the BID,
the Sharpie bleed into the lay-up. I was kind of
concerned about the integrity of the laminae, so I
brought into work and showed our composites
manufacturing process engineer a sample of what
happened. He told me that McAir actually spent money
on a test to see if the ink affected the strength in
any way.... It didn't. So he told not to worry about
it.
I was concerned because the blue ink in the sharpie
bleed over 3 times thicker than the original line.
So my only comment is if you use this method, be
careful because the position may move on you.
Need I say anything more about how I hate stuff moving
around?????
Anyway, I think a superior method is the nylon bolt
deal. My .02 worth....
