Among the photos that John Bouyea posted from the bunch he took at the Gathering, are several of a VW engine setup with a very tight exhaust pipe arrangement. My question is, the exhaust is in a "bullhead tee" arrangement with the fore and aft exhaust streams joining head-on, with a common exit pipe out the bottom. To someone accustomed to thinking about fluid flow, a "bullhead tee" is a no-no, but obviously the exhaust pulses from the two cylinders aren't headed down the pipe toward each other at the same time (or are they?) I'm just wondering if this setup works well or if it was done in the interest of a more compact arrangement with maybe some loss of efficiency. It is certainly simpler to do than a swept-Y setup and I'd like to use it on my 1835 if someone can confirm that it is effective. What I was planning to do on my "KR construction trainer" is shown at http://www.flysquirrel.net/colorscheme.html
