Pat
when I was fighting my temp problems after the turbo installation, It was
hard to admit to myself that the cylinder cooling had such a great effect on
the oil temp which in turn reduced the oil pressure. The CHT in my case was
just too high. I rearranged the baffles and now the cht is down and the oil
temp is down and the pressure is higher. I never had the pressure go below
15 PSI even with the cht near 500. I'm now using 20 W 50 oil and find that
the oil temp will only go up past 190 if I insist on staying in the pattern
and just doing take off's and landings, with no cooling time in between.
Check to make sure that if you are using a direct read gauge that there is
no kinks in the tubing, and if using an electric gauge, that the ground is
really good.
