Exactly. I used stainless on my rudder cables since they don't make any real turns, and they are exposed to the elements at the rear of the plane, but used galvanized for the aileron cables, since they make a turn out at the end of the spars, and the cable is out of the weather anyway. I'm not sure where I got the material information, but I wasn't born with it. I think it came out of a Bingelis book. I used 7/19 in both cases for maximum flexibility, which is especially helpful when looping around the thimbles at the ends...
