Turns out they were selling 100LL for $3.09. They wanted $3.29 at the Shell station. I don't want to kill and fuel sales for Mt.Vernon but $.50 a gallon is considerable. The airport is Pinckneyville, Illinois and the identifier is PJY. It is located about 25 to 30 miles SW of Mt.Vernon. Anyone arriving from the south or west may want to consider stopping in there. It is unattended and has the credit card dispenser. One caution, the machine doesn't give receipts right now so I'm going on the word of the locals on the price. Anyone coming in from the E or SE , check out Carmi, Illinois ( CUL, I think ). They usually have cheap fuel and they have auto fuel available. If in doubt, call ahead. Fuel at Mt.Vernon is $3.63 according to the lineman I spoke to yesterday.
