Netters
2005 was my first gathering, my wife and I flew my 172 up. Parked it away
from the KR's with Matt's 175 and there it sat for three days, unused. I'm
not sure I'll do that again.
We called the Holliday Inn and they sent the van. We waited 45 mins. and no
van. As I said my first trip so I knew no one and I'm not much on asking for
help but Bill Page asked us if we could use a ride. We met the van as we
were leaving, felt bad about that, tipped the guy later but didn't tell him
why.
As we got to know people rides were easy enough, Lee and I even got a ride
from Mrs. Ran although I didn't know who she was at the time. Mike Turner
provided several and Mrs.. turner took Dianne shopping on Sat..
Sat. afternoon was another deal. No one around as the big meal approached
and Dianne at the hotel, Called a cab and she got the tour of the city!
Wal-Mart, Quick stop for chickin, several other passengers in and out, the
grand tour! The girl driver was sweet and still eating chicken when Dianne
got there 45 min. later. She even offered Dianne some of her chicken.
Before we called the cab we tried to rent a car, $40 a day and you have to
rent it for two days because they don't work on Sunday, or something like
that.
I think it was Sat, night we were wandering around the airport aimlessly and
one of the Helo-Med evacuation guys loaned us his truck, really nice people
there.
I think we will do it differently this year. Might even drag a camper, the
campground was a LOT of fun. If nothing else we will rent a car ahead, I
understand they are a good bit cheaper that way.
We had a great time and will see you'll this year and be better prepared.
Plan A is to fly my KR in, lot better ramp parking that way.
Larry, Thank you again, you did a heck of a job.
