Hi Don,

One thing to consider and I've read a lot of stuff off the net on this:

Adding fowler flaps or any other stall reducing device on a KR will also
require a bigger elevator to keep the aircraft trimmed level under these
different situations.

Just something to keep in mind.

Hennie

KR Listees:

I think I am going to build a 1/4 scale wing and see if I can figure
out a way to "Wind Tunnel" test it and see if leading edge fixed slots
will do anythig to lower the stall with out adverse effects. I have
been drying to find some information on what is importent in the design
but all I can find on the subgect applies only to "Slotted Flaps". I
know what LE slots do to lower the stall speed but they also give a nose
high attitude that can be objectionable and maybe worse but can fid
nothing that helps give a design with predictable results. The 1/4
scale wing wounly be about 22-1/2 inches long with a 12 inch chord but
have know clue as to what scale effect might be.

I guess that is why NASA has tunnel big enough to put an entire F-18 in
as I witnessed when I worked for them in '91. I am not all that
knowledgable, perhaps enough to be dangerous but willing to recognise
that 50% of smart is knowing that you are ignorant so I do make stupid
sounding statements sometimes and often ask the wrong questions.
