I have been moving things around in my garage making room for some more
machinery that is on the way for my business. I keep moving engine parts
from one side to the other and I am realizing that I really need to get them
out of the way. I don't know when I will have time to overhaul it I am
willing to let them go cheap.

It is a Continental C-85-12F with a Marvel Schebler carb, two mags, and a
starter. I don't have the alternator, but you can buy a new one pretty
cheap. It was ran about 100 hours since the last overhaul then stored.
Before I agreed to buy it I brought it home and removed the cylinders and
one of the connecting rods so I could inspect it. I have found no rust at
all inside the engine and everything I have measured so far is not just
within serviceable limits, but within new part limits. I have no question
at all in my mind that this engine has only 100 hours on it. The crank is
.010 under.

My plan was to finish taking it apart and send all the parts to be
magnafluxed and yellow tagged and put it back together as a fresh overhauled
engine and sell it for $8,500. If I was putting it back together for myself
I would probably just clean it up and inspect it and put it together as is.

Anyway, I don't have the time so I will sell it as is for the first $4,500
and I will build a crate to ship it in. You can put it back together and
have a very good engine cheaper than you might ever find one again. I will
also completely overhaul it for the cost of the magnafluxing and parts plus
$500 labor if someone agrees to buy it first.

Another option on this engine is to buy an O-200 conversion kit from
Aircraft Specialties for $2,485 or $350 less if you don't want the STC
paperwork with it. That will give you a brand new crankshaft and brand new
pistons and rods. The old crank, pistons, and rods can then be sold used
for probably $2,000. They are worth a lot because you can't buy a new 85
crank anymore and the pistons for the 85 cost a lot more than the O-200.
This is a great option because it won't cost much to do and you will wind up
with new parts in the engine which will make it worth even more.

I would overhaul the carb or just buy an exchange carb for this engine.
