Rough sanding is normally not necessary when bonding to a part made with
Vinyl Ester, using Vinyl Ester. That is why Dan uses it, because it is a
laminating resin". It never completely cures, so another application of
Vinyl Ester will really bite into it causing a very good bond. That is why
you should, read that MUST, use Vinyl Ester when bonding your wing skins to
the spars.

Now having said that, Dan did tell me that if I rough sanded the ailerons
that he made for us using the same process as the wing skins, that I could
get away with using an epoxy resin, and that is what I did. However, even
thought I really don't like Vinyl Ester, for that application, I would use
it. I wrapped the aileron to the false spar, just to be sure.

I'm told that since the skins are made with vinylester resin, that only a
vinylester based
glue should be used. Dan Diehl apparently sells this to builders.
