If you could completely close up the hole into which the gear retracts, it 
would be faster, but all that stuff still hanging out there with that big open 
hole, is what makes it about 5mph slower.

I don't see how Diehl's gear, or any gear, hanging in the wind can make a
plane faster than one with nothing hanging down at all.
