I am going to test knock sensors on my Corvair. The standard knock sensor is little more than a crystal microphone. It picks up noise and turns it into an analog signal. The amplifier I am using has variable gain and sends the output to a comparator circuit to switch the light on with increased levels of noise. (knock) This is the first step to going an electronic ignition system with automatic ignition retard. I have to finish installing my engine in the plane before I test the setup. Probably will be testing in January. I will post all the information on my website as soon as I start testing. I will post info to the list at that time.
