Hi all.

I have just returned from the Australian International Airshow where I was
able to see Albert Cassar's KR2 with Jodel style wings and the AS5048
airfoil. When taking the photos of his aircraft I was able to shelter under
it when it started to rain, so "Thanks Albert" I have created a page for it
here. http://www.kr-2s.com/aussies/cassar.html

After sunset last nigh a microburst hit the airport and 6 aircraft were
flipped onto their backs, completely writing off some of them, Other
aircraft sustained damage when they pulled pegs or were tied down loosely.
The Regel Renegade in these 3 pics sustained some fairly major damage. The
cowl was bashed up, the landing gear collapsed, the lower wing is obviously
in bad shape. Whilst the photo does not show it, the top wing main spar was
broken and loosed 2 feet in from the end. The owner was apprehensive about
what he was going to find after getting it home and removing the fabric.

The SAAA (Sports Aircraft Association of Australia) marquis blew down but
the Sonex wing being built and David Robbin's Corvair engine which were on
display were spared any damage,

In a few weeks we have gone from dry windy 113F temps to todays rainy and
windy 65F. The runway had pretty much 90 degree crosswinds which proved too
much for the Super Constellation
http://www.thetudors.net/imageashow/Lockheed_Super_Constellation_Connie_A.jpgas
the PIC aborted takeoff after a long takeoff roll. The owner of the P
51
http://www.kr-2s.com/krnet/avalon4_800.jpg was lucky to not ground loop as
he exited the 10,000 x 148 feet runway on takeoff and had an excursion
through the damp grass at a rapid rate of knots.

I could go on for ages as I love the airshow and can't wait for the next one
in 2 years time.
Maybe I will fly there in my KR.

Cheers
